About Us
Established in 1993, Medical Transport Services (MTS), a wholly owned subsidiary of G4S Australia & New Zealand Pty Ltd,
is one of Victoria's largest and most experienced private non-emergency patient transport
services.
MTS is the single largest provider of services to Ambulance Victoria, as well as to major public hospitals, including the Austin and Bayside Health networks of public hospitals, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), the Workcover Authority and others.
Whilst specialising in quality patient transport services, MTS also provides Paramedic Standby Services at sporting events, film and television productions, and any other event at which paramedical services are required. MTS works closely with Melbourne’s world-leading Neonatal Emergency Transport Service to providing the logistical support required to move critically ill new born babies to one of four Neonatal Intensive Care units in Melbourne.
Officers employed by the company undergo a high standard of training at Monash or Victoria Universities. Ongoing clinical update training and accreditation is provided through both these universities and MTS's own internal training unit. The training programs ensure that officers are up to date with the latest developments in the delivery of patient care.
MTS operates a fleet of custom-built ambulances, designed for their superior ride and handling to give patients the smoothest and most comfortable trip possible.
Each ambulance is equipped with state of the art resuscitation and patient monitoring facilities as well as the standard equipment of a modern ambulance fleet.
MTS is a strong supporter of regulation and licensing of the patient transport industry to ensure that every patient is provided with the best available care. When the Victorian Government introduced licensing of private non-emergency patient transport services in February 2006, MTS was the first company to obtain such a licence.
